Our Story

About Arrowhead Heating & Air Midland

No salespeople and great service make a big difference

See why Midland and Odessa prefer us over other companies who promise the world and show up late.

Sometimes you just know

I always knew I wanted to work with my hands, but until the day I filled out that application for an HVAC job nothing clicked. As soon as I put down the pen, I got a weird feeling that I was onto something.

Turns out I was right.

A little over 14 years ago, I started that HVAC job as a junior technician, and I haven’t regretted that choice a single day. From the first unit I fixed to the first system I brought back to life I was hooked.

Every day was different. We’d drive all over the place meeting people, figuring things out, and solving problems. Soon, I couldn’t get enough of it, and every day I’d wake up early, looking forward to the day’s puzzles.

It wasn’t long before I started to think about owning my own business one day. For 10 years, I saved my pennies, bought as many tools as I could afford, and one day I gave my boss notice.

I’ve never looked back.

For over 4 years, I’ve been serving Midland and Odessa with one simple idea: treat people good. While I learned plenty working for other companies, I also learned that some just don’t care about their customers and all they care about is making money.

The way I figure it, I’ll never be able to change how some people run their business, but I can damn sure run my own shop a different way. The truth is, you don’t always need a new system, and just because you can make money selling one doesn’t make it right.

The truth is that technology has come a long way. The systems are designed in almost a Lego block way, that makes service possible. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to a job and fixed something another company said was unfixable.

This is why I don’t believe in salespeople. When you call us for service, you’re not dealing with people who will say anything to make a buck. We’ll shoot you straight, fix things if we can, and only recommend a new system when it’s right, not because we need to pay some bills.

I know this formula is working because we’re growing. Our customers are telling their friends and neighbors about us, and we’re busier than ever. Soon we’ll be adding new crew,s and that’s a great problem to have.

If the idea of being treated well and getting great service sounds good to you, maybe it’s time to see for yourself. You’ll find it’s easy to make an appointment, we show up when we say we’re gonna show up, and our pricing is always fair.

Thanks very much for the opportunity, and you have my word you won’t be disappointed.

Working with David was such a delight he has managed to fix our issues twice super-fast to where we have never been without, even having an old system he helped keep it running and not try to get the easy way out to replace the whole system. We will forever us ArrowHead as homeowners.

Our AC quit working over the weekend while we were out of town and we came home to a house that was 86 degrees. With it being a Sunday, we were worried we have to wait the following day to get it fixed, however, David came over right away and fixed it in an hour. We highly recommend Arrowhead!

Questions & Answers

We’re always happy to answer your questions.

If you don’t see what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to contact us.

How often should I change my AC filter in Midland?

Every two weeks during cooling season. Midland dust clogs filters fast. A dirty filter restricts airflow, makes your system work harder, and can freeze your evaporator coil. Check it weekly during dust storms. Standard filters last 30 days in most places, but not here. Upgrade to pleated filters for better dust capture. When the filter looks gray or brown, replace it immediately.

Why does my AC run but barely cool the house?

Low refrigerant from a leak is the most common cause. Your compressor runs but can’t move enough heat outside. Dirty condenser coils also block heat transfer. Failed capacitors make the compressor work weak. Undersized ductwork in older homes restricts airflow. Thermostat problems can cause short cycling. We diagnose the real issue instead of just adding refrigerant and hoping it fixes itself.

Should I cover my outdoor AC unit during a dust storm?

No. Covering a running unit will overheat the compressor and cause damage. After the storm passes, spray off the condenser coils with a garden hose. Remove visible debris like tumbleweeds. If coils are packed with dirt, call us for professional cleaning. Heavy buildup blocks airflow and kills cooling efficiency. Regular coil cleaning is part of living in West Texas.

How do I know if my furnace has a cracked heat exchanger?

You smell exhaust or see soot around the furnace. Yellow or flickering burner flames instead of steady blue. The furnace shuts off randomly. Carbon monoxide detector goes off. Visible cracks or rust holes in the metal. A cracked heat exchanger leaks deadly carbon monoxide into your home. This is dangerous. We inspect heat exchangers with cameras during tune-ups to catch cracks early.

Why does my furnace click but not start?

Failed igniter is most common. The gas valve clicks trying to open but the igniter won’t light the gas. Bad flame sensor. Faulty gas valve. Thermostat wiring problem. Tripped limit switch from overheating. Low gas pressure. The clicking means the control board is trying to start the heating cycle but something prevents ignition. Don’t keep trying to restart it. Call us before you damage the control board.

My AC freezes up every few days. What causes that?

Frozen evaporator coils mean restricted airflow or low refrigerant. Dirty filters are the number one cause. Closed vents in unused rooms also restrict flow. Blower motor running too slow. Refrigerant leaks at outdoor unit connections. Clogged condensate drain line. Turn the system off and let ice melt completely before restarting. Repeated freezing damages the compressor.
